ELECTIVE MONARCHY ISN’T SO BAD. Ck2 Elective Succession If you hold 1 king title, or your highest title is count or duke, the succession law of your primary title applies to all of your titles. If you hold multiple king titles (and no emperor title), each king title has its own succession law. The nice thing about having an elective monarchy (which Denmark has by default) is that the dukes are allowed to vote for the heir and since I'm the king my vote wins out against a tie and since I have all the duchies accept one, I'm the kingmaker. Obviously this only really works when you have a relatively small demesne. Elective Monarchy has stricter requirements for eligible nominees. I could only nominate my Dukes, children and siblings. No outside my realm and dynasty had claims on the title, so I could not test claimant eligibility.
The word monarchy comes from the greek word monarkia meaning the rule of one. Elective comes from the latin word electivus.

Electors are happier in this system unless their liege personally holds too many elective titles. Elective law is a Law of Succession in which the strongest vassal inherits. This is determined by the same formula used for Consanguinity law, but relationship to the present ruler is not considered.
